A Smile To Be Proud Of

How Vicki Got Her Smile !

In life we all have encountered bumps, obstacles and disappointments. Hello there I am Max, Vicki’s husband. After Vicki hit too many bumps and obstacles in her journey with Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs, I decided to tell her story so others could avoid the horrible bumps. After weeks of extreme pain I took her to a Pueblo dentist and his staff who provided that great smile. Now for that bumpy journey with Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs and Dr. Dyer that Vicki had and the steps I took finding that topnotch dentist. Before we are finished I will give you a look at a first class dentist that saved the smile. Be sure to send us a message. Information for contacting us is at the bottom.

We thought we had found the answer to that dental health we needed.

That beautiful smile in the first picture was provided by Dr. Moreschini in Pueblo, Colorado.

This picture is ten years old. You can see she has been in need of a new smile for years. Vicki is a 3/4 cup full person. Always positive, taking things in stride and ready to push forward. A wrong choice can temporarily change that. Fasten your seat belt. This ride starts out with a little bump then gets very smooth, but watch out that second bump it is a big one.

The first rough spot, then smooth sailing.

Vicki had and infected tooth pulled and had taken a round of pills that should of cleared the infection. Well it didn’t and she said the first of the week I will get back to the dentist. The weekend came, you know how things go. The infection flared it’s ugly self. Saturday she was in a lot of pain. We both got on the internet looking for a dentist open on the weekend. We found Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs. With a phone call we had an appointment Sunday morning at 9 am. We drove the 140 miles and arrived at 9 am. Dr. Choi prescribed an antibiotic. In the conversation Dr. Choi said when you are ready for dentures come see me. “I make good dentures.” Dr. Choi and the entire staff were so nice, understanding, caring and helpful. We were really impressed it had been a long time since we had met such nice caring people. When the infection cleared Dr. Choi’s words kept ringing in Vicki’s ears, “I make good dentures.” Back to Colorado Springs to see Dr. Choi. He outlined the procedure. The dentures were $3,000. Pay that today and take the impressions. When the dentures are ready pay the fee for pulling the remaining teeth. Put in the new dentures. After a bout 6 or more months when the mouth is healed pay another $3,000 and get the forever set. Everyone was so nice so without hesitation and never checking on pricing with other dentists, Vicki gave the go ahead. Nicholas, the tech, had a little trouble with the impressions. Dr. Choi started to do a impression, had trouble and said to Nicholas just use the ones you made.

Like a NASCAR driver pull that seat belt tight. There is going to be a little fender banging then a NASCAR size wreck.

Vicki had been notified that her dentures were in and made an appointment for November 29, 2023 to have the few remaining teeth extracted and get her new dentures. She was disappointed to find out Dr. Choi was no longer with the firm but Dr Dyer would be taking over. During the extractions she was having nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is used with oxygen. About 15 minutes before the extractions were complete Dr. Dyer ran out of oxygen. To finish the process the lungs should be purged for 3-5 minutes with 100% oxygen. That was impossible when they ran out of oxygen. Most likely that was the cause of the lung problem that bothered her for several days. With the extractions completed next comes the new dentures. WRECK. They did not fit.

The same’ole, same’ole begins.

We stayed overnight in Colorado Springs so Dr. Dryer could see Vicki the next day. He ground and relined, ground and relined, ground and relined, ground and relined, ground and relined for weeks. Never getting them to fit in her mouth. The issues with the dentures were: 1. They just did not fit her mouth. 2. Both uppers and lowers caused extreme pain. 3. The lowers had so much material there was no room for her tongue and she couldn’t talk. 4. The teeth in the lowers were to far forward. If she tried to bite something they flipped up in the back and slid out of her mouth. 5. When she opened her mouth the uppers dropped down and if not careful they would come out of her mouth. 6. She could not chew so her food intake was anything she could put in her mouth and swallow. The first several mornings she cleaned her teeth and it hurt so bad when she put them in her mouth she cried. The trouper she is she was determined to wear them and make them work. Vicki always fixed a nice meal for me. Her meal was anything she could use a spoon to get it in her mouth and swallow. Vicki was convinced she would never eat a regular meal again. I felt guilty eating when she couldn’t.

What is reality?

Vicki has always been a 3/4 cup full person. That happy face with that was always smiling began the disappear. There were a lot of tears. Depression was setting in. Vicki was convinced she would never eat a regular meal again and her mouth would always hurt. She had her back teeth removed several years ago. These dentures were such a misfit that the upper and lower jaws that were healed began to get sores. Two times I said to Dr. Dyer I thought Emergency Dental owed Vicki another set of dentures and they should start over. The first time his response was we will work with this set for 3-4 months then make the second set. My answer was who in their right mind would spend another $3,000 when they couldn’t make the first set work. The second time I suggested they start over he ignored me. Stop for a moment and consider what it would be like to think you would never be able to chew and have a real meal again plus the dentures constantly hurting your mouth. Any question about her being depressed? In the evening as we watched TV she would cry and say she wished she had never had her teeth removed. The dentures caused extreme pain. This went on for four weeks. The beginning of week 5, the first week of 2024, we drove to Colorado Springs to tell Dr. Dyer we were going to another dentist. We found a dentist in Pueblo, Colorado we felt was the best for our situation. Vicki had back surgery scheduled for February. She was so afraid if the back surgery went the same as her dentures she would never walk again so she canceled the back surgery. A year later she still has that fear and is living with back and leg pain.

Eating again.

That dentist was Dr. Moreschini in Pueblo, Colorado. We saw him the first week of January and he had the dentures ready for Vicki the last week of January. January 29, 2024 eight weeks to the day from extractions, her appointment was at 11:00. It took a few minutes to make a couple of adjustments. The directions were to go to lunch and if there was any problem come back and they would fix it. It was two weeks before Vicki needed to go back and they buffed a spot to make it comfortable. Vicki has been back two more times to have a spot buffed to make the dentures comfortable. Vicki has been wearing this set for a year now, without any problem. For less than $1,800 Dr. Moreschini gave Vicki the ability to chew and eat again without pain. So Dr. Moreschini gave Vicki back her smile.

Compare.

The set of dentures on the right were produced by Emergency Dental. Vicki paid $3,000 for a set of dentures that did not work and just under $1,800 for the set on the left that has worked for a year. I have asked for our $3,000 back. Look at the lowers. On the set to the right look at the center. See how much material there is. No room for her tongue, she could not talk. The uppers on the left are shaped different. Shaped to fit her mouth. The uppers by Emergency Dental do not conform to her mouth and would just drop when she opened her mouth. Vicki lived in pain with the dentures from Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs for eight weeks till the dentures from Dr. Moreschini were ready. My opinion is if you are sold a product that does not work and they will not refund your money you have been cheated. Send us a message. Is a stronger word than cheated appropriate?

My request for a refund.

I wrote multiple letters to three people. My first letter for requesting a refund was on February 19, 2024 to the operation director, Joyce Mlynarik. I asked that they buy back the dentures for $3,000, the price we paid and we would have no complaint. I have never received an answer. The second letter was to Dr. Dyer on April 15, 2024. I received an answer Dated August 14. 2024. You can see his response to the left. The third letter was to the CEO, Dr. Roberto Monteagudo on July 9, 2024. I have never received an answer. I have written other letters all unanswered. Look at the reason Dr. Dyer gives for not refunding Vicki’s money. We are back in grade school, it’s all your fault. Is this normal treatment for seniors? But wait there is more drama to come see it in the next box.

An email from their corporate attorney.

First the offer of $2,000 and using the insurance money as part of a settlement, in my opinion would be insurance fraud. Second they are willing to charge me with extortion because I asked for our money back. I don’t think Emergency Dental will be getting any awards for customer service this year.

In my reply I explained I was out of town on a project to which I was giving my full attention. I would be home late Thursday and could address this Friday.

The attorney’s reply was the offer expired Thursday.

Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs is a part of Emergency Dental of America. They have offices in about sixteen cities across the United States. Please help me tell Vicki’s Story so seniors and others will not have a bad experience if a mistake is made in their dental work with any Emergency Dental office. See their website at EmergencyDentalofAmerica.com . They do advertise for dentures. That is an implied contract. You should expect a usable set of dentures. I do not believe Emergency Dental set out to make bad dentures. Mistakes were made. For what ever reason, it appears to me they were more interested in keeping the $3,000 than having a happy satisfied customer. Because I have tried to work with the operation manager and the CEO of Emergency Dental of America, I am guessing the treatment Vicki has received is their company policy.

Please help tell Vicki’s Story by sharing this website with as many of your friends and places as possible.

What now?

I am publishing this website in February 2025. Vick is back to her 3/4 cup full person. We have several plans. Being in advertising I have Radio, TV and Print connections that will help tell Vicki’s Story. I feel the public needs to know about Dr. Dyer’s ability with dentures and the Emergency Dental customer service.

We by no means will let Emergency Dental and Dr. Dyers poor performance control our lives. We have a life to enjoy. Although informing others about Vicki’s experience with Dr.Dyer and Emergency Dental will be part of my enjoyment!

We plan on revisiting the Grand Canyon. There are still National Parks in our area we need to see. There is always yard work. I’ll spend some time in my wood shop making things. Plans include canning some good Colorado peaches. We have several years of pictures of our travels that need organizing. Of course I have advertising to do for a few small businesses. Anyone need a website?

The dental office of Dr. Moreschini of Pueblo, Colorado got Vicki’s smile back.

A brief summary.

On November 29, 2023 Dr. Dyer with Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs extracted 17 teeth. The dentures Vicki had paid $3,000 for did not fit. Dr. Dyer was never able to make them fit. Vicki was in extreme pain for four weeks. I took her to another dentist and purchased a set of dentures. That set was ready January 29, 2024. For a total of eight weeks Vicki’s only food intake was something she could put in her mouth and swallow, she could not talk and had extreme pain. She was convinced she would never be able to chew and have a real meal again. When I asked for a refund plus interest and the money I spent getting their attention I was threatened with extortion. I have tried for a year to be nice and considerate but they have ignored me. It is time to tell the world VICKI’S STORY and how Dr. Dyer and Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs has treated her.

Vicki has a back and leg problem. She was scheduled for surgery in February of 2024. Vicki still does not have the confidence to go ahead with the surgery. She feels if there was any problem she might not be able to walk. Thank you Dr. Dyer and Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs for the fear.

Our wish is for the world to know how Vicki was treated by Dr. Dyer and Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs. As seniors with limited income it is disappointing to purchase a set of dentures that do not work and Emergency Dental of Colorado Springs will not make a refund.

It is really bad when they threaten you with extortion when you ask for your money back.

Grind, Grind reline, Grind reline, Grind reline, Grind reline for four weeks.
Dr. Dryer never got them to fit. She was in extreme pain until she purchased a set of dentures from another dentist.
Vicki was convinced that she would never eat a regular meal again.

She had to purchase another set of dentures from another dentist.
